It has been too long since I posted one of these! In an effort to catch up, you’ll probably be seeing several of these a day for a while!
SOAP for today, well a few days ago

Exodus 15:19 – 28:43
Scripture: “He said to them (Moses), ‘This is what the Lord commanded: Tomorrow is to be a day of rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.’” ~ Exodus 16:23
Observation: God thought that having a rest one day a week was so important that he made it one of the 10 commandments – right up there with “do not murder”. Obviously it must be important. This verse also shows that it was also important for the people to plan ahead and not cook on that day.
Application: This may not be the most super spiritual insight of I have ever had, but it sure is a practical one. I need to plan ahead for the food we eat all day on Sunday. I make a supper menu plan, but I still have to cook it on Sunday. With that and the other 2 meals a day I often end up cooking a doing dishes at least a couple of hours on Sunday. I think it would really bless me and my family if I implemented a no-cooking Sunday. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Prayer: God, thank you for making a day of rest for us each week. Please give me practical wisdom on how to implement a true rest day for my family. Help me to plan ahead and not cook on Sundays.
