Hello again! It’s been awhile. The last few months have flown by and dragged on and on – if it’s possible for both to happen at the same time. I can’t believe September and October are over, and yet I am glad that they are gone. Hard seasons in life are not fun at all, but I am happy that hard times are just seasons. And seasons do change! I am definitely looking forward to a new one in my life! Anyone with me?
Despite life not going exactly my way lately (a lot of it is my own fault!), I do have SO much to be thankful for. It’s interesting that when hard times come, it is my natural response to look inward at myself and problems when what I really need to do is look to God and the life and victory that He promises. Boy, has the devil had me right where he has wanted me!
But, there is nothing like a new month – especially November – to remind me to give thanks. Join me in giving thanks on purpose this month. Today I’m going to start at the top – thanks to God.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:6-7
I am grateful that I grew up in a Christian family and accepted the faith – the fact that Jesus is the son of God, lived a sinless life on Earth and died for the forgiveness of my (and everyone else’s) sins – when I was child. I’ve made many, many mistakes and poor choices since the time of that decision in children’s church – I’ve even walked away from the faith a time or two – but I am so grateful that God is a great and forgiving God and that He can restore messed up lives!
I’m far from a theologian, I have hundreds of unanswered questions about God and I don’t have my life all together, but I do know God is real and true and that my faith in Him defines my life. God makes the craziness of life make sense.* So – thank you God!
What are you thankful for today?
