We rent a house in the country. I’m thankful for the place and usually just go on living and don’t think about it too much. We have lived in this house for 2 1/2 years and I often just consider it “our home”. We sure pay a lot for the privilege! 🙂
Today, we were getting the carpets cleaned in the house (on our dime of course) just to keep the old house looking as clean as we can. While the kids and I were outside and the cleaning van was in the driveway, I wasn’t surprised to see our widowed landlady – who lives just a mile down the road – come driving by at about 2 miles an hour (she had to be riding the brakes to go so slow). She inched down the road past the house and then slowly – stopping every now and then to really get a good look – went along the lease road that runs right along the south side of the house.
I was standing outside and right then and there I felt so small and insignificant. We don’t have oil wells and a farm like the lady landlord, nor do we even own our own house like her or millions of other people in the world. I felt like a nobody – a spied on nobody – who was just reminded of her low place in the world. I was overwhelmed with feeling so insecure and foolish for forgetting my powerless and low financial place in the world.
While I wallowed in some self pity, God gently reminded me that He thinks I am significant and that He has the only vote that counts. Life is gonna tell you how pathetic it thinks you are. Don’t believe it. Choose to believe the truth of the Bible. God loves YOU and YOU matter to him.
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” Pslam 139:14
What do you need to start believing truth about today?
