Every year since 1991 the American Dialect Society has picked a “word of the year” – a word that represents an important theme of a particular year. They pick a word after the year is over (like I would probably say mine for 2012 was struggle) but I am going to pick one in advance for this year.
Lately I’ve really had the word new on my mind and heart. I like the idea that God can take any pain, mess or situation – bring good out of it and make it new. My verses of the year goes along with that theme:
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland.
Do you pick a verse or word of the year? I’d love to read it in the comments!
