Prosperity, Bible in 90 Days – Day 15

SOAP for today!

Deuteronomy 23:12  – 34:12

Scripture: “Then the Lord your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The Lord will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your fathers, if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in the Book of the Law and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. ~ Deuteronomy  30:9-10

Observation: In the verses preceding this passage, God talks about how the Israelites will turn away from him and follow other gods. This passage promises God’s blessing if they will just turn from their sin and follow him.

Application: Lately I’ve struggled with the idea of pursuing success. I want to be a successful writer – to make money to help support my family and others  – but I have wondered if that was even a Godly pursuit. Though we don’t live under the old law because Jesus died for our sins, I can’t help but believe that God truly wants us to be successful in our work.

Prayer: God, I pray that, like the Israelites, you will make us prosperous in all our work. Give us the ability and the desire to turn to you with all our heart and soul.
