Exodus 1:1 – 15:18
Scripture: “On that day tell your son, ‘I do this because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’. This observance will be for you like a sign on your head and a reminder on your forehead that the law of the Lord is to be on your lips…” ~ Exodus 13:8-9
Observation: God wanted people to tell their children the reason why they celebrated Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread – God freed them from slavery to the Egyptians and did dozens of miracles along the way (like parting the Red Sea!).
Application: It is so easy to forget what God has done in my life. I know I have prayed and prayed for something, seen God answer it, and then a few weeks later I complain again about life and wonder if God is even there. In the reading today, God stressed several times how important it was to share with family all the miracles God preformed and remember them. I know when I look back in my journals and read things I wrote about prayers God has answered or ways he has helped me, it increases my faith. I like to scrapbook and for years I have wanted to make a faith book to record ways I have seen or felt God. I need to get to it. I am sure it would bless my kids someday.
Prayer: God, help me to keep track of the things big and small that you have helped me with. Give me faith to trust in you and believe that you are who you say you are.
