Inspiration to Serve God and Live a Balanced Life

Life has been crazy-busy around here lately. I totally forgot how much work it is to move. I haven’t done much blogging, writing or done hardly anything productive other than filling boxes.
But one thing I am so proud I finished this week was my MBA! Thankfully it didn’t take years and it had nothing to do with math or business (other than beef business). The free 6-hour Master’s of Beef Advocacy course definitely gave me new insight into the beef industry. I highly recommend taking it.
Next week I’m attending one of the local training programs (they have them all over) and I will share some pics and more then.
Again, I highly recommend this program to anyone in the beef industry or anyone who (like me!) wants to be a beef producer! (And nope, I’m not getting paid to say this
)
Check it out at here!
Calving is definitely one of my favorite times of the year to visit my parents! My kids had a great time seeing 2 calves pulled and playing with one of the new calves my daughter named Angel. I am praying so hard that we can find a place to live that will let us get some bucket calves for the kids!
My 3-year-old enjoyed watching cattle sell online last week. We watched for at least an hour, waiting for my parents’ calves to sell.
I enjoyed watching with him, but I can’t believe what a mess he made on my desk and in my trash can. Any other time my writing area is perfectly clean – ha! ![]()
There’s nothing that says “Cowgirl” like rounding up cattle on Christmas morning. Though having the feedlot calves get out into the pasture is never a good thing, the kids and I had so much fun helping with the roundup. (Sorry we were an hour late for Christmas Dinner, Granny!)
Head over to Beef Today and read about some Texas ranchers being forced to sell off their cattle herds.
Rancher Pete Case said, ”I know that we need to sell about 50 more cows now but can’t bring myself to seeing them go. I keep thinking it might rain yet,” Pete told me. “This is like losing family.”
These folks need some prayers!
If you know a Texas rancher who has struggled in this drought, and would be willing to be interviewed, please share in the comments. I would love to profile some ranchers in an article for the Fence Post. There is nothing like a true story to bring light to rough situations and encourage people to pray.
In some areas, cattle prices are up 27 % or more from last year. That sounds like great news for cattle farmers, but it’s not that simple. Corn prices are up more than 35 percent this year, gasoline prices are up nearly as much. ”The cost of farm equipment, parts for your machinery are up,” said Moyer, 45, who has made a career out of cattle farming. ”Add it all up and we’re averaging about the same (return).”

Thanks for stopping in and following my family's journey to cattle ranching. Along the way I'll share some encouragement, ag news, and recipes.
